England
Ivory Coast striker Salomon Kalou ended a goal drought for Chelsea in the English Premier League on 7 October when he scored their first goal in 460 minutes' play.
Kalou struck the only goal of the game at Bolton Wanderers as the former champions claimed their first league win under new boss Avram Grant following the abrupt departure of former manager Jose Mourinho.
Kalou led the Chelsea attack as a replacement for suspended compatriot Didier Drogba.
Zimbabwean Benjani Mwaruwari scored the opening goal for Portsmouth with a deflected drive from the edge of the area as they won 2-0 at Fulham.
Blackburn Rovers had South African striker Benni McCarthy to thank for the winner in a 2-1 home victory over Birmingham City.
McCarthy came off the substitutes' bench at halftime and converted a 55th-minute penalty to secure the win.

In Germany, Ivory Coast striker Boubacar Sanogo scored his sixth league goal of the season for Werder Bremen as they romped to a 3-1 win at MSV Duisberg.
Sanogo was returning for Bremen after a hip injury and he quickly regained his early season form, confidently finishing a one-on-one opportunity to put the visitors 2-1 ahead in the
second half.
Elephant's left back Arthur Boka damaged knee ligaments in Stuttgart's 2-0 win over Hannover 96 and will be out for a month, missing two Champions League fixtures.
Scotland
Ivory Coast's Aime Koudou scored his first goal of the season in the first minute of Kilmarnock's 2-2 home draw with Scottish Premier League rivals Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
France
In France, Cameroonian midfielder Achille Emana scored in Toulouse's 1-0 win at struggling Sochaux.
Gabonese international Eric Mouloungui helped Racing Strasbourg to a 2-1 win at rock-bottom Metz and Senegal's Kader Mangane scored in Racing Lens' 2-0 home win over Auxerre.
Spain
In Spain's Primera Liga, an all-African forward combination of Mali's Frederic Kanoute and Ivory Coast's Arouna Kone could not prevent Uefa Cup holders Sevilla slipping to a fourth
consecutive league defeat at home to Deportivo La Coruna.
In Santander, Mohamed Tchite scored the second goal in Racing's 2-0 home win over Real Valladolid.
Though Tchite was the only African to score a Primera Liga goal, there was promising news off the field for others from the continent who play in Spain.
